Health and Wellness Wednesday: Forget me not....
Have you ever been really busy but were able to remember almost everything yet, when your schedule became less hectic, could barely remember a thing? It’s like your brain went to sleep and became lazy! That’s because mixed with stress and busy schedules, adrenaline kicks in. This forces receptors in your brain to work at warp speed to compartmentalize all that you need to remember. Once the adrenaline subsides, your brain slowly processes the stress and tension going away. In a way, your brain kind of takes a break too!
Don’t panic: we all have our “senior moments.” However, you can exercise your brain to keep it sharp just like your body. Take a break on a daily basis and try to play crossword puzzles, Soduku, brainteasers, board and card games. Also, light reading for 10 minutes of something positive and uplifting on a daily basis can help do wonders. Most important, eating “brain food” like fish, berries and nuts can help you stay mentally fit.
Try to do this for 21 days. Your body and mind will thank you!
