Motivational Monday: You Better Work It!

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

Eleanor Roosevelt

I had the opportunity to watch RuPaul as a guest on Queen Latifah's show this afternoon. As they reminisced about being on the same label in the beginning of their careers, Queen noted how much she looked up to RuPaul earlier in her career. This was not only because he looked FIERCE (as my finger snaps) in his makeup, wigs and costumes, but the amount of confidence he always displayed. RuPaul commented that he did not always have the genuine amount of confidence he has now, but knew he had to "fake it until you make it" to survive the industry.

I thought it was a great learning moment when he made that statement. When we don't always feel our best, we must dig deep and "put on a show" until we trust ourselves to genuinely feel confident. This is important in situations where we are taking a leap of faith like a new look, interviewing for a job or dating. Just remember to be who you are and the rest will follow...

What do you do to boost your confidence when you are not feeling your best?
